In this post, we’re looking at the filing fees for large estate proceedings. Filing fees are governed by Probate Division Rules 125 and 425 . The information below is current as of May 2018, and you can check the links for the current information on filing fees.
In general, there is a $25.00 fee if there is real estate owned by the decedent in the District of Columbia, plus an additional fee depending on the value of all other assets/personal property:

| $75,000.00 – $99,999.00 | $350.00 | |
| $100,000.00 – $499,999.99 | $575.00 | |
| $500,000.00 – $749,999.99 | $825.00 | |
| $750,000.00 – $999,999.99 | $1,275.00 | |
| $1,000,000.00 – $2,499,999.99 | $1,800.00 | |
| $2,500,000.00 – $4,999,999.99 | $2,300.00 | |
| $5,000,000.00 and over | $5,000,000.00 and over | $2,300.00 plus 0.02% of amount in excess of $5,000,000.00 |
